What is a TB Skin test?

A small amount of Purified Protein Derivative (PPD) is injected, usually under the skin of the upper forearm. The results of this test are received 48 to 72 hours after the injection.

• Cream, lotion, oil, shampoo, etc. cannot be applied.
• That place cannot be cleaned with soap.

But this restriction is limited to 48-72 hours.
That means these rules have to be followed till the hand results are taken. After getting the result everything can be done as before.

Why do I have to follow these rules?

Generally, when Purified Protein Derivative enters the body, how our skin reacts is measured.
But if other chemicals, water, cream, and lotion are used here, the result cannot be determined correctly. So 48-72 hours have to follow this rule.
